We swam mid tide with big, slow waves

I look at the rising sun and suck vitamins out of it

A vast, still pond of dark grey water, filled to the brim of the beach

Revisiting last December's sea

Swimming in the rain

The sea water was like polished pewter

You can get into a stormy sea. The trouble is getting out again.

Storms stir up seawater temperatures

The sea restores a miserably grey morning

Sea swimming is addictive

A twice-my-height wave rolls towards me

The sky carried pink remnants of sunrise over the horizon

The sea was steaming like an expensive infinity pool

Autumn equinox delivers a dark magic

Sunshine and a sandy beach away from the grey

We could see shingle and sand beneath the water

Warm sun flooded a blue sea at low tide

We took it in turns to fall off the paddleboard

The morning Rupert slipped his lead

Two leadless dogs check out our bags and towels.

Silver surf waves, a commercial for summer holidays.

I almost reached shore when the rain started

There are no discernible jellyfish

The gentle pale green water is clear

We met to swim at four fifteen am

A moon jellyfish, like a creature from another planet

The shingle has been washed by long-awaited rain

The north wind has gone

Wind and tide together were comically impossible

A too-rough-to-swim morning

‘Nor nor westerly’ said the fisherman

The water is lighter than the sky above

The wind wafts the kittiwake guano scent over us

A still morning with an angry swell

The sea is glorious at the end of low tide
