Terrific, as always. I had a dip in the sea this morning at Trevone in Cornwall. First winter “swim” in ages, possibly ever. Soooooo invigorating. Happy Christmas B. X
It has been really fascinating reading your imaginatively written posts every week. This last one explains well the bravery and the joy of what your swimming family do all year. Love it.
I love reading your writing at any time but the sooner the better!! Thanks for your wonderful posts! Merry Christmas and many happy cold water dips in 2025!

What a wonderful poem, thank you.
Love and hugs and mince pies for you xxx
Lovely. Love the Atwood reference.
I always think of Donne’s Nocture Upon St Lucy’s Day’ at the solstice.
'Tis the year's midnight, and it is the day's,
Lucy's, who scarce seven hours herself unmasks;
The sun is spent, and now his flasks
Send forth light squibs, no constant rays;
The world's whole sap is sunk;
The general balm th' hydroptic earth hath drunk….
But it does at least end with ‘Both the year’s and day’s deep midnight is’.
Have a very Happy Christmas. X
